October 3, 2013: I am sitting at a
table on the northern end of one
of the most iconic properties on
the Hudson River: The Ossin-
ing Boat and Canoe Club.With
me today are the Commodore,
Tom Earle, and a number of
members who have gathered to
share their stories of the history
of their club, and their concern
over the Town Of Ossining’s cur-
rent research into replacing the
building, forever changing this
wonderful landmark.
The sun overcoming the storm
clouds above the Hudson are an
apt metaphor for their history.
The OBCC has endured and
prospered through every storm
on the Hudson since it was built
here by its members in 1921,
as well as every change of
property ownership, and every
OSSINING BOAT AND
