Lex:
Hello Alex! It’s great to see you again!
A question a number of people have asked is
“What’s the story with re-powering a boat?”
What does repowering a boat mean? Why do
people do it? What’s the benefit? Is it expen-
sive and so on and so on and on…
Alex:
Well Lex, let’s talk about one question
at a time. First off, when a person re-powers
their boat it simply means they are replacing
the engine with either the same or a differ-
ent type. Now there are a lot of reasons why
people re-power their boats. The most com-
mon are 1. Engine failure. 2. The boat was
improperly winterized. 3. A person wants
more power for their present boat. 4. They
want to get a more efficient engine like gas
vs. diesel etc.
Lex:
Alex, can you share the number one
reason why people re-power their boats?
Alex:
That’s easy Lex! It’s because their boat
was improperly winterized and the engine
block cracked!
Lex:
Ouch! What’s a range of how much it
could cost to replace an engine that wasn’t
properly winterized?
Alex:
It could be from a couple thousand to
several thousand dollars.
