Lex:
So as an obvious note it’s really impor-
tant for everyone to have their boat winter-
ized. The cost is minimal to winterize an
engine vs. thousands to replace a ruined
engine. Now what’s the next most common
reason people get their boat re-powered?
Alex:
Three words Lex. Lack of mainte-
nance.
Lex:
What specific maintenance is important
for boaters to do so they won’t need to re-
power it?
Alex:
Oil changes, tune-ups, make sure the
boat has the correct propeller on it so you’re
not putting too much load on your engine and
checking ALL of the fluids. Also, it’s impor-
tant that they check the boat while underway
to make sure that it’s operating as designed.
In other words checking the gauges to make
sure it has proper oil pressure and the boat
is running in a safe operating temperature.
One more thing Lex. It’s very important to
listen for any abnormal noises.
Lex:
That’s a great point Alex!
Alex:
When some people hear abnormal
noises, instead of checking what the noise is
they simply turn the stereo up louder when
in fact they should contact their mechanic im-
mediately? Why, because those noises tend
to continue to get louder and louder until
the noise disappears completely. Then Lex,
the only sound you’ll hear is your voice on
the phone saying:“Hello, Sea-Tow. My boat
broke down and I have no idea why!
Lex:
Great point Alex! That’s why it’s so im-
portant to maintain and listen to your engine
so you can continue to enjoy your boating
season with your family and your friends.
Well, thanks again Alex for offering you in-
sights and info for all of our Boating on The
Hudson readers. By the way Alex, what can
people do if they have any questions about
what we’ve discussed about re-powering?
Alex:
They can either call me at: 845-565-
9199 or they can contact me through my web-
site which is
Lex:
Sounds great Alex! And for all of our
readers, make sure to stay tuned for the
next Boating on The Hudson Magazine is-
sue where Alex and I will be discussing the
mysterious secret submarines that have been
traveling beneath the Hudson River that cre-
ate the rogue waves many people have been
talking about. Also, Alex and I have created a
top-secret underwater wetsuit prototype that
will allow us to track these secret subs and
latch onto them with special super-powerful
magnets.With our super underwater dynam-
ic tracking suits, we’ll be able to the bottom
of this big mystery.
